NEWLIFE ART BRINGS CREATIVE SUCCESS

An enthusiastic response to a new charity project offering art teachers free and low cost creative materials has lead to the launch of a new website where they can register their interest for next term.

BDF Newlife, based in Cannock, Staffordshire, launched the project known as Newlife Art earlier this month with a huge range of materials being offered including rolls of fabric, mixed bags of textured materials, beads, jewellery, buttons and sequins to pairs of gloves and hats. Details of the materials available can now be found at www.newlifeart.co.uk.

About 45 teachers and tutors attended the event, held at The Barns, in Cannock, and there was an enthusiastic welcome for the scheme, with many samples being sold or given away. These included items of jewellery, textiles, carpet, lampshades, braid and buttons. Attendees represented local Chase schools, colleges and came from neighbouring Stafford, Wolverhampton and Telford.

The new website at www.newlifeart.co.uk is currently open to register interest and will be open for online ordering in time for the new September term. During the summer, BDF Newlife Recycling Officer, Matt Dunning, will be processing the orders received at the launch.

Sheila Brown OBE, the charity’s Chief Executive, says: “A creative new term lies ahead for anyone who can use these materials in art education. Anyone who teaches art or creative skills or is involved in a design project is sure to find something.”
